At 13:00 on the afternoon of January 7, 2023, Unit 3 of the East Hope Gas Plant's Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasifier EPC project, constructed by ZHGAS, successfully passed its 168-hour performance assessment.
The project is located in Tiantan Industrial Park, Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City, Henan Province. It comprises three 66,000 Nm3/h circulating fluidized bed gasifiers, providing heat to five alumina calcining kilns. Currently, Gasifiers 1 and 2 have been completed and are ready for operation. During the trial operation of Gasifier 3, the gas calorific value reached 1360 Kcal/Nm3, exceeding the acceptance standard.
Previously, East Hope Group produced fuel gas using 32 two-stage coal gasifiers, which suffered from drawbacks such as difficult tar treatment, high 'three-waste' emissions (waste gas, waste water, and solid waste), and low single-furnace load. The newly built circulating fluidized bed coal gasifiers fundamentally resolve the pollution issues of tar and phenol-cyanide wastewater. Simultaneously, they have significantly improved system gasification efficiency, overall energy efficiency, gasifier reliability, and site automation level.
Since the project team entered the site in June 2022, they experienced four lockdowns due to local epidemic impacts, with the construction period lasting a total of four months. During the lockdowns, they encountered numerous challenges, including difficulties in manpower deployment, delayed equipment delivery, and restricted access to daily necessities. To ensure project progress, the project team actively planned and arranged, convening professionals from various fields for coordination and handover; proactively contacted equipment manufacturers and various construction subcontractors to work collaboratively; reverse-scheduled the timeline, implemented responsibilities, and went all out to advance the project construction. Ultimately, equipment installation and debugging were completed in October 2022, making it ready for operation. By the end of December, Unit 3 was successfully ignited on the first attempt, smoothly producing fuel gas.
The owner expressed heartfelt gratitude to ZHGAS for the excellent professionalism and exceptionally high work efficiency demonstrated throughout the project construction. They presented a banner to the project team, inscribed with the fourteen characters: "Excellent Construction Shows Craftsmanship, Overcoming Difficulties Ensures Progress," highly praising ZHGAS's exquisite process design capabilities, professional project management skills, and high-quality service level. The project team leader also expressed sincere gratitude for the trust and support provided by the owner during project execution.
