1MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Oxygen-enriched Combustion Pilot Test Facility Successfully Passes Third-Party Performance Test

From June 7th to 10th, the 1MW Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Oxygen-enriched Combustion Pilot Test Facility, independently developed and constructed by the Circulating Fluidized Bed Laboratory of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), successfully passed third-party performance testing conducted by Huaneng Clean Energy Technology Research Institute. The test results indicated that all technical indicators met the design specifications.

From June 7th to 10th, the 1MW Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Oxygen-enriched Combustion Pilot Test Facility, independently developed and constructed by the Circulating Fluidized Bed Laboratory of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), successfully passed third-party performance testing conducted by Huaneng Clean Energy Technology Research Institute. The test results indicated that all technical indicators met the design specifications.


For this third-party test, high-oxygen concentration oxygen-enriched combustion experiments were conducted using Zhungeerr bituminous coal and Shenmu semi-coke as fuel. Under various test conditions, the measured overall oxygen concentration in the feed gas to the pilot unit was consistently greater than 50%, the CO2 concentration in the tail gas consistently exceeded 90%, and the thermal power of the pilot unit consistently surpassed 1MWth.

The development of this pilot facility is a key research component of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Strategic Priority Research Program "Key Technologies and Demonstration for Clean and Efficient Cascading Utilization of Low-Rank Coal," specifically the sub-project on "Circulating Fluidized Bed Oxygen-enriched Combustion Technology." With the support of this sub-project, the R&D team designed and constructed this pilot unit through nearly three years of development. It has accumulated over 400 hours of operation, completing research on particle flow characteristics, fuel combustion characteristics, and pollutant emission characteristics under high oxygen concentration circulating fluidized bed oxygen-enriched combustion.


This third-party test demonstrates that the R&D team has broken through the key technical bottleneck in high-oxygen concentration circulating fluidized bed oxygen-enriched combustion and streamlined the process flow of the high-oxygen concentration CFB oxygen-enriched combustion system, providing strong support for the development of larger-scale industrial demonstration facilities for circulating fluidized bed oxygen-enriched combustion.
